Teaching Philosophy

I believe in failure.  Making mistakes, changing our minds, and taking roads less traveled are steps along our true paths, and to “fail” is simply to live.  The role of an educator is to cultivate an environment in which students feel safe to fail.  That security begets bold learning and courageous living.  I wish upon my students unbearable curiosity and insatiable intellectual and creative appetites with which to explore the world and themselves.  A love of learning is an enduring quality and endless source of personal power that can help us weather hardship and sculpt our choices throughout our lives.
